As the economic development organization for Schuyler County, the Schuyler County Partnership for Economic Development (SCOPED) is dedicated to building a thriving and sustainable economy. SCOPED is a private, not-for-profit organization that utilizes innovative ideas and initiatives to promote the formation, retention, expansion and attraction of target businesses in the area. SCOPED also administers the Schuyler County Industrial Development Agency (SCIDA), Project Seneca, Finger Lakes Gateway Community Development Corporation and a revolving loan fund.

The mission of SCOPED is to leverage its collaboration with public and private partners to foster a vibrant and diverse rural economy and workforce focused on building high value-added production businesses and innovation hubs while taking advantage of Schuyler County’s natural and cultural environment to create a prosperous community and raise the standard of living for our residents. SCOPED is undergoing transformative change as we continue to move to a pro-active, market-driven organization. SCOPED directs its resources in the following broad areas:
- Attract and retain Millennials through the creation of year-round, living wage employment and business start-up opportunities.
- Leverage existing and growing businesses (within economic clusters) to attract new capital investment and expand employment opportunities.
- Increase the exportation of local products outside of Schuyler County.
- Target scarce incentives to businesses that are committed to Schuyler County and locating here for sound strategic reasons.
- Create a predictable, transparent and anticipatory business support system within Schuyler County and the surrounding area.
We’re Hiring! Economic and Community Development Specialist
Job Summary: The primary focus of this individual will be to support Schuyler County Partnership for Economic Development (SCOPED) and the Schuyler County Industrial Development Authority (SCIDA) in efforts to leverage public & private sector relationships and decision-makers to assist the Villages, Towns and the County improve the local and regional economy. This individual will be responsible for providing technical support related to business development, community development, grant funding, real estate development and community engagement. This includes, but is not limited to: growing and maintaining the financial resources (local, state and federal grants & loans) necessary to address the needs of new and existing small businesses; providing start-ups and existing companies with knowledge and access to a wide variety of resources critical to their formation and growth; working with local officials. This individual will be responsible for the organization’s social media including posting of legal notices and other regularly updated information on the website.
